This latest report provides insight into the demographic and debt information of new clients who first received debt advice in June 2024. It also includes the latest insights on our website traffic trends.

Our key findings from June 2024:

  • Since June 2022, a ‘cost of living increase’ has remained as the main reason for debt, with one in five (20%) clients citing this in June 2024
  • In June 2024 two-third (67%) of clients had credit card debts, which is one percentage point higher than June 2023 (66%)
  • Two in five (39%) clients were in receipt of Universal Credit in June 2024, which is one percentage point higher than June 2023 (38%)
  • The proportion of men seeking debt advice in June 2024 is 39%, which is three percentage points higher than the same time last year (June 2023 = 36%)
  • Just over two in five (43%) clients seeking debt advice were in full-time employment which is two percentage points higher than June 2023 (41%)
