This latest report provides insight into the demographic and debt information of new clients who first received debt advice in May 2024. It also includes the latest insights on our website traffic trends.
Our key findings from May 2024:
- The number of clients accessing full debt advice in May 2024 is 13,692, which is 12% lower than May 2023 (15,483)
- The emergency funding webpage remains as the most viewed debt information page with 19,016 views in May 2024, which is in line with the number of views seen a year ago (May 2023 = 19,087)
- One in seven (14%) clients mentioned ‘unemployment or redundancy’ as their main reason for debt in May 2024, which is two percentage points higher than May 2023 (12%)
- One in ten (10%) clients mentioned a ‘reduced income or benefits’ as their main reason for debt in May 2024, which is also two percentage points higher than the same time last year (May 2023 = 8%)
- In May 2024, among those with a responsibility for paying a mortgage, 18% were in arrears with this bill, which is three percentage points higher than May 2023 (15%)
